The Thread of Life. Project & Exhibition

While on Twitter the other day I came across a lovely project by a local resident artist Sharon Mossbeck that I thought others would love to know about (especially my friends new and old in the )..
MSE Cross Stitch Cafe

The project is based on the mythological Greek figures of the Fates, or Moirai and called "The thread of Life" and is in 2 parts.

Elmer Cross Stitch

So tonight's #WIPWednesday is actually a finished piece because it didn't take me very long.  I can't say tooo much about it in case the recipient reads my blog (I don't *think* they do but you never know).

This, to anyone who hasn't met him before, is Elmer.  He's a favourite in children's literature.  I simply LOVE his bright colours for baby cards/ pictures and it doesn't matter if you don't use the correct shades so fantastic to use up stash.

London Underground - update 25.6.14

I think my last London update was this in August 2013 (WOW 10 months ago) and it was just taking shape..

Superhero Afghan - update March 2014

My 2 boys love their superheroes so I bought lots of little pixel people from Pixel Power which I am gradually stitching onto an Afghan for them.  If they are lucky it will be finished before they are 16 lol.
The biggest reason I keep putting it down is because it is SOO bulky.  Hubby has bought me a HUGE frame to stitch it in but it's just not comfortable and I don't really like floor frames.

When I put it down, back in *cough* October, I had only 5 people stitched, all have their name stitched with them.

I picked it up again last week and since then have managed:

  and

and a square with Noahs name and date of birth on.

Ursula Michael's -"Let's Go To Grandmas"

As you will know I am normally a huge Ursula Michael fan so was soo pleased to find this one.  Sadly I am disappointed.  I hate the mix of upper and lower case in words - all upper or all lower, or capitalise the first letter by all means but "gRandkids", "gaRDEN" and "Another WORD for Love" is just not acceptable.  I have had to alter it as i go along which has knocked my count out and meant a lot of other alterations had to be made.   This is one stitch I will be happy to finish.

I am also trying to use up colours I have rather than buying any at the moment so am using an assortment of purples and rainbow variegated threads.

Completed  2.3.14

Ursula Michael's "Lets Trick or Treat" - finished 15.2.14

can be bought from Crossstitch.com
My Progress update:  15th February 2014 - Completed

I did it, 4 months, and a lot of artistic license (ok mistakes) it's done, and thankfully Ben who claimed it as his own last year loves it.  Read about my Halloween Progress History here.

Cross Stitch Crazy Review, March 2014 issue 187

Please note that I get this magazine on a UK subscription so free gifts/ charts may differ from those in the shop/ overseas subscribers.

Free Gifts

Teapot chart (sorry no pic as I forgot to take one).

This is a smallish chart (44 stitches wide x 44 high) of a blue teapot with flowers.  It's certainly different.... not my cup of tea (if you'll excuse the pun) but I can see its wider appeal.

Notebook

I loved this notebook and immediately got my (sadly lacking) stitching bug back by turning it into my Blogging notebook.  There are designs further through the magazine tho if you'd rather use a ready made pattern.

My To-Do List 11/10-17/10

This weekends to-do list

Another week.... another to-do list.
You may be wondering why my to-do lists always start on a Friday?  Simples I work Monday to Thursday so for me Fridays are the start of my house week.

My to-do list 4th-10th October

This weekends to-do list

Another jam-packed weekend on the cards, not with social events sadly ..... so as it inspired me so much last weekend I thought I'd make another list to motivate myself.

Lucie Heaton Christmas fairies

27/9/13
I liked the Lucie Heaton Fairy designs but they didn't leave a lot of room for text, so I decided to split them and make 2 cards from 1 design.

cross-stitch update

31/8/13
My cross-stitch is really taking a back seat at the moment (silly blogging and twitter addiction) but after looking at the latest issue of Cross Stitch Crazy (review here) I fear I may have to pic up a needle and start the Christmas cards....... Sorrrrrryyy London Underground you are to be confined to a cupboard for a couple of months.

London Underground Cross Stitch - a work in progress 14/8

Progress update - 14/8/13.
Finished page 1 :)

I bought it here.

It's stitched using 1 strand of thread over 18ct aida (lettering in 2 strand) - the smallest I've ever worked with and probably the last.

It's one of those easy to stitch pieces (so long as you are doing the straight lines lol) ..... try doing the diagonals and it's very easy to get confused,
