Christmas: Advent Calendars

It's almost the first of November and that means only 4 weeks to get an Advent Calendar in.  Every year I look for one that we would all love, every year I refuse to spend too much money, and every year we tend to end up with about 4!

Here's my favourites from those I've spotted so far, please share your finds in the comments.

For the kids

The Elf on the Shelf

We always have the Elf of the Shelf come to stay and it would be really great for him to bring his own advent calendar with him.

This is a cardboard calendar with pictures behind each door and a special message from Santa in the last one.  However at £6.49 it makes it very expensive in my eyes.

LEGO Advent Calendar

We had the city one of these a couple of years ago and the boys loved it.  Every day you open the door and find a piece (or 2) of LEGO which you gradually build into various items to create a Christmas scene.

This year LEGO have realeased a City, Star Wars and Friends one.

Play-Doh

I'll admit, a little bit of mummy actually wants this one for herself.  Each door hides a Christmas themed stamper, mould or cutter.   It also has a playmat and 5 tubs of Play-Doh (including 2 sparkle ones)

For Mummy

Yankee Candle Snow Globe

I bought the Yankee Candle advent calendar last year and it was soo Christmassy.  (see my review here).

They do 3 different calendars but I like the Snow Globe one as I am a tealight fan, rather than a votive.  Every day reveals a tealight candle in one of six seasonal scents (Christmas memories, Angels Wings, Cinnamon Stick, Icicles, Christmas Garland and Snowflake Cookie), including an extra treat in the 24th!  Each tealight will burn about 4 to 6 hours each and apparently they float (I didn't know that).

No7 25 Days of Beauty Wonders

I believe this is a sell-out every year, not many advent calendars have a pre-launch waiting list.
This beauty calendar provides 25 days of skincare and beauty delights, including 6 full size products.
From a new nail colour to a radiance boosting night cream,

Buy direct from Boots here.

Lush: The 12 days of Christmas

Lush can't quite fit 25 products into a calendar yet so they have the 12 days offering (I guess you could open on alternate days?).

I got a sneak peak at this and the goodies within it when I attended the Lush Meadowhall VIP night recently and I am soo tempted to get myself one.  Yes £49.95 is a lot of money but it's about the same cost as buying the products individually.

For Daddy

Craft Beer Advent Calendar

24 different hand-picked craft beers (330ml) presented in a one-a-day advent calendar case. Includes tasting notes for each beer.

In the calendar: Hardknott Brewery: Figgy Pudding 7.0% - The Celt Experience: Silures 4.7% - Cotleigh Brewery: Red Nose Reinbeer 4.5% - Hogs Back Brewery: Montezuma’s Chocolate Lager 4.5% - Brecon Brewing: Cwrw-istmas Beacons 4.2% - Hawkshead Brewery: Sundown 4.5% - Anarchy Brew Co: Xmas Chaos 4.5% - SA Brains: I Sea Santa 4.5% - Tiny Rebel Brewing: Cwtch 4.6% - Discworld Ales: Bledlows Silence 5.5% - Brouwerij De Molen: Op & Top 4.5% - Harviestoun Brewery: Schiehallion 4.8% - Camden Town Brewery: Gentleman’s Wit 4.3% - Five Points Brewing: Railway Porter 4.8% - Freedom Brewery: Organic Dark Lager 4.7% - Atlantic Brewery: Earl Grey PA 4.5% - Siren Craft Brew: Calypso 4.0% - Hiver Beers: The Honey Ale 4.5% - Fourpure Brewing Co: Pils 4.7% - Meantime Brewing: London Pale Ale 4.3% - Alechemy Brewing: Talisman 4.1% - Discworld Ales: Hix’s Darkside 7.0% - Day of the Dead: DOA IPA 6.8% - Flying Dog Brewery: Easy IPA 4.7%

At £66.99 it's pretty expensive ...... I think my husband will be getting this version - much cheaper :)

£15 for a pack of 24 in Asda at the moment.

Hot Wheels Advent Calendar

Why not take the man in your life back to his childhood with the Hot Wheels Advent Calendar? Each day holds one of eight different Hot Wheels cars, cool stickers or surprising accessories.

Which advent calendars are you getting this year?
